Aim:
The aim of this assignment is to increase your knowledge of infectious diseases risk in particular populations and settings and increase your ability to critically analyse the prevention and management of infectious diseases in these settings or groups.
Instructions:
Choose ONE of the following topics:
Residential aged care facilities (RACF) AND Prisons,
OR
Pregnant women AND Refugees
1. For each of the practice settings/groups listed above, identify an infectious disease that is problematic in that setting/group.
2. Provide an overview of these diseases (causative organism, presentation, disease outcomes) and a rationale for why the risk of contracting that infectious disease is increased in that setting/group with reference to the mode/s of transmission and host susceptibility factors.
3. Critically analyse the prevention of these two infectious diseases in these settings/groups, and prevention of spread to others.

Provide a short introduction and conclusion to your paper.
You may use headings and tables to organise your work if you wish.
Write in the third person.
Use academic language throughout^.

Referencing:

Ensure that you use scholarly literature* (digitised readings, research articles, relevant Government reports and text books) that has been published within the last TEN (10) years. A minimum of TEN (10) scholarly sources should be used.

It avoids colloquialisms and slang, which may be subject to local and social variations. Formal language is more precise and stable, and therefore more suitable for the expression of complex ideas and the development of reasoned argumentation.
